McLeans Pit Landfill - New Cell 3B

This project was carried out for the Grey District Council and involved digging out, lining and completing a new rubbish cell at the McLeans Pit Landfill in Greymouth.
This involved excavating in excess of 55,000 cubic metres of gravel and shaping the new rubbish cell. Much of the gravel was screened onsite for re-use. The excavated cell was lined with siltstone and drainage piping installed. The cell was lined with GCL and HDPE liners and the pipework connected into the existing leachate collection system.
In addition the the existing oxidation ponds were cleaned out and a new aerator installed.
This contract was completed on time and within budget.
